Canadian leader in paint recycling
The Laurentide Environment division produces Boomerang 100% eco-friendly paint from unused and reclaimed paint. It also sorts, manages, recycles, reuses and recovers post-consumer materials in Quebec and Eastern Canada. Located in Victoriaville, Quebec, Laurentide Re/sources is the Canadian leader in the recycling of paints, stains and varnishes.
In addition to paint, Laurentide Environment recovers a number of materials that pose environmental risks and redirects them to processing centres for environmentally responsible disposal. It collects and sorts batteries, compact fluorescent light bulbs, used oils and other hazardous household waste.
Partners in a greener, more sustainable economy
With the collaboration of Quebec municipalities, the Eco-Peinture organization and major retail chains, Laurentide Environment has set up an innovative network for the collection of leftover paint in all regions of Quebec. Over the past 20 years, Laurentide Environment, with the help of its partners, has diverted more than 100,000,000 kilograms of paint from landfills through the Eco-Peinture program in Quebec and the Product Care program in the Maritimes.
In 2016, Laurentide Environment collected 8 million kilograms of paint and container waste, 82% of which was recycled. The manufacture of Boomerang 100% eco-friendly paint, from reclaimed unused paint, produces four times less greenhouse gases than the production of traditional paint.

“Boomerang products are made from post-consumer paints and are packaged in containers made from recycled materials and recyclable plastics. On average, Boomerang paints contain 43 grams of VOCs per litre, which meets national standards and LEED requirements. VOC content was measured using standard EPA 24 and ASTM D-2369 methods. It is important to note that these products are made from post-consumer paints with various VOC contents that would otherwise have been sent to landfills. In 2016, Laurentide Environment collected 8 million kg of leftover paint and containers, 82% of which was recycled and therefore diverted from landfills.”
